Interview Highlights
“As a recruiter, what I do is before I start recruiting for a particular position, I will meet with the hiring manager to see what kind of a profile they’re looking for in a candidate. So we’ll go over the skills that they’re looking for. We’ll go over any soft skills they’re looking for as well. As well as their major.”
Best Career Advice
“For anyone who’s looking to go into recruiting, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than you might think that there is. So when I first stepped into the role, I didn’t realize how many legalities there were and all these different nuances that came with it. For example, hiring international students or what came with making sure that there’s no bias in your process.”
Career Challenge
“One of the most difficult parts of my college experience for me was when I was looking for a full-time position. And this was during my last semester of college. The process was honestly a lot harder than I expected it to be. Nobody tells you that at the end of college, you’re going to go through six months or more of recruitment seasons in order to find a job. And even at that point, even if you graduate with a bachelor’s degree, you might not necessarily have a job ready to go lined up.”
