“If not for that moment, that negative at that time, I might not have this positive of my entire writing career. I might have always felt that I needed to have a salary job to feel secure because that’s what I was used to.That was pretty early in my career, I was 26 when I got laid off from a publishing company that ended up going out of business about six months later. So I would have been out of a job one way or the other.”
