“Being a manager means that sometimes you have to make decisions that are in service of the organization, sometimes you have to make decisions in service of your team, sometimes you have to make decisions in service of yourself, and they’re not always going to be in alignment.”

“Despite being as successful fundraiser and account manager at a nonprofit, I had a manager [who thought] that nothing was ever good enough. And that became a form of control and power in the workplace that extended beyond just my relationship with this person, and it created a toxic workplace. That feeling was almost debilitating.”
