Interview Highlights
“Embrace what makes you special … and make sure that you put your best self forward. And what part of that means is not just doing great work and developing relationships with people at your place of employment early on, but also remember the importance of the people that you’ve gotten to know throughout your academic experience and through your social networks and understand that each of them are potential clients in the future.”
Best Career Advice
“The best advice I got was from one of my brothers who said go to the best law school you can get into because it’s going to potentially open up doors for you that other schools may not be able to open up for you even though financially, you may be better off going to another school.”
Career Challenge
“When I first started practicing, which was in 1994 and it was post-recession … I started in an area that was transactional area, was a real estate practice, and there were five of us that actually started at the same time … and there was maybe enough work for two of us. And so very early on, I realized that even if you get hired, if you are in the middle of a huge recession and there isn’t enough work in a particular area at a firm, you need to get creative and you need to get strategic because you need to make sure that you stay busy enough not only to be profitable to the firm, but to also make sure that you get enough experience and you don’t fall behind.”
