Even as a young professional, you have a choice whether you stay or you go. And sometimes for me growing up where I grew up, I would tell myself that, ‘you just have to be strong, you have to power through, don’t be a punk.’ Do you know what? — it wasn’t worth it. The amount of sleepless nights and the amount of psychological and spiritual distress that I experienced, especially in the later years, there were no trophies that I got after I endured horrible mistreatment for years and years before I decided I’m going to transition.”
