After seven or eight years, I just closed Milo Public Affairs. I didn’t have a job in hand. I wasn’t going to look for clients while I was looking for a job, I thought that’d be unfair to everybody. It took me a while for someone to take a risk on a guy who hadn’t worked in an office for five or seven years. And that’s when I went over to the U.S. Institute of Peace. They took a shot, but that’s not easy. It’s hard to separate the skillsets from the person.”
