“My whole professional career was the Obama administration, which was an administration that was very favorable to civil society input. I got to go to the National Security Council, I could email someone from the state department, ask for coffee and they would say yes, and they would hear me out and listen to my opinions. In terms of access to government for American civil society, we had very high levels of access. And now we’re with the Trump administration who is much less interested in collective civil society input into policy.”
